Description

Tender Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Steak Bites feature succulent cubes of sirloin or chuck steak simmered in a rich, sweet, and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfectly seared and slowly cooked to tender perfection, these steak bites are an easy, flavorful main course ideal for pairing with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Garnish

  • 2 pounds sirloin or chuck steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional, for extra richness)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Thickener

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Sear the Steak: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak bites in batches for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. They do not need to be fully cooked. Transfer the browned steak to the slow cooker.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), ketchup, minced garlic, onion powder, and crushed red pepper flakes. Pour this sauce mixture over the steak bites in the slow cooker and stir to coat evenly.
  3. Slow Cook the Steak: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours until the steak is tender and flavorful.
  4. Thicken the Sauce: About 20 minutes before the end of cooking, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry. Stir this slurry into the slow cooker, uncover, and cook for an additional 15–20 minutes until the sauce has thickened to a glossy finish.
  5. Serve: Serve the steak bites warm, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. These bites pair beautifully with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • For a sweeter sauce, add an extra tablespoon of honey.
  • Chuck steak becomes more tender with longer cooking times, while sirloin stays slightly firmer.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
