Description

This Tender & Juicy Crockpot Mississippi Chicken recipe is a flavorful and easy dish that’s perfect for a comforting meal. The combination of ranch seasoning, au jus gravy mix, and tangy pepperoncini peppers creates a deliciously unique flavor profile that will have everyone coming back for more.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken:

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts

Seasonings:

  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix

Pepperoncini Mixture:

  • 6–8 pepperoncini peppers
  • 1/3 cup pepperoncini juice

Additional:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into slices
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. Season the Chicken: Sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix and au jus gravy mix evenly over the chicken.
  3. Add Flavor: Add the pepperoncini peppers and pour the pepperoncini juice and chicken broth over the top.
  4. Finish: Place the butter slices over the chicken. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.
  5. Shred and Serve: Shred the chicken with two forks, then stir everything together in the slow cooker to combine. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or on sandwich buns.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, reduce the butter to 1/4 cup.
  • Chicken thighs can be substituted for chicken breasts if preferred.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
