Description

Sweet Baby Ray’s Crockpot Chicken is an easy and flavorful slow-cooked dish featuring tender, shredded chicken breasts simmered in a deliciously rich barbecue sauce. Perfect for sandwiches, wraps, or served over rice, this recipe combines the sweet and tangy flavors of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce with a hint of brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices, all made effortlessly in your slow cooker for a hands-off meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Sauce Mixture

  • 1 bottle (18 oz) Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker in an even layer to ensure they cook uniformly.
  2. Mix Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Coat Chicken: Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the chicken breasts, making sure each piece is fully coated in the sauce for maximum flavor.
  4. Slow Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours. The chicken should be tender and easily shredded when done.
  5. Shred Chicken: Using two forks, shred the chicken directly in the crockpot and stir well so the shredded meat absorbs the sauce.
  6. Serve: Serve the shredded BBQ chicken hot on buns, over rice, in wraps, or alongside your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sear the chicken breasts in a hot skillet before placing in the slow cooker.
  • Add a dash of hot sauce or red chili flakes for some heat if desired.
  • Leftovers keep well and can be frozen in airtight containers or freezer bags for up to 2 months.
  • Check BBQ sauce label for gluten-free certification if needed.
