Description

Refreshing and flavorful Strawberry Sweet Tea combines freshly brewed black tea with a homemade strawberry syrup for a sweet and tangy beverage perfect for warm days or anytime you crave a fruity twist on classic sweet tea.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 6 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags (or tea of your choice)

Strawberry Syrup

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar (adjust to your sweetness preference)

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)
  • Extra strawberries or mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the tea bags. Let steep for 5-7 minutes, then remove tea bags and set the tea aside to cool.
  2. Prepare the Strawberry Syrup: While the tea cools, combine sliced strawberries and sugar in a separate saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 5-10 minutes until strawberries release juice and sugar dissolves.
  3. Mash the Strawberries: Once the mixture has thickened slightly, mash the strawberries using a spoon or potato masher to release more juice. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Combine Tea and Syrup: Strain the strawberry syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove solids. Pour the syrup into the cooled tea and stir well to combine.
  5. Adjust Sweetness: Taste the tea and adjust sweetness if desired by adding more sugar or a tablespoon of lemon juice for brightness.
  6. Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour in the strawberry sweet tea, and garnish with fresh strawberry slices or mint leaves if desired.

Notes

  • Use any black or herbal tea according to your preference.
  • Adjust sugar quantity based on sweetness preference.
  • For a smoother syrup, blend the strawberry mixture before straining.
  • Lemon juice is optional but adds a nice tangy balance.
  • Serve immediately for best flavor and freshness.
  • Leftover tea can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
