Ingredients
Scale
Almond Milk Base
- 1 cup raw almonds, soaked overnight and drained
- 3 cups filtered water (plus more for soaking)
Flavoring
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled
- 2–3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey, to taste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Soak the almonds: Place 1 cup of raw almonds in a bowl, cover with filtered water, and soak overnight or for at least 8 hours. This softens the almonds and makes them easier to blend and digest.
- Blend almonds and water: Drain and rinse the soaked almonds thoroughly. Add them to a high-speed blender with 3 cups of filtered water. Blend on high for 1–2 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
- Strain the almond milk: Pour the blended mixture through a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher. Squeeze and press to extract as much liquid as possible, leaving behind almond pulp.
- Flavor the milk: Rinse the blender and pour the strained almond milk back into it. Add 1 cup of hulled strawberries, 2 to 3 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Blend again until the mixture is completely smooth and well combined.
- Adjust and chill: Taste the strawberry almond milk and adjust the sweetness if needed by adding more sweetener. Transfer to a sealed container and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving. Shake or stir well before each use as natural separation occurs.
Notes
- Use less water for a creamier, richer almond milk or more water for a lighter consistency.
- Fresh strawberries provide the best flavor, though frozen strawberries work well and add convenience.
- Store the almond milk in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- Shake well before serving due to natural separation of ingredients.
