Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Asian-inspired steak and shrimp noodle stir-fry featuring tender flank steak, succulent shrimp, and colorful vegetables tossed in a savory soy-based sauce over lo mein or spaghetti noodles.

Ingredients

Scale

Noodles

  • 8 ounces lo mein or spaghetti noodles

Protein

  • 1/2 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce, divided
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup snow peas or broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Other

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Follow the package directions for the lo mein or spaghetti noodles. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and brown sugar. Mix thoroughly and set aside so the flavors meld.
  3. Season the proteins: Toss the sliced flank steak with 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce to lightly marinate it. In a separate bowl, do the same with the shrimp using the remaining 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce.
  4. Sear the steak: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the steak slices and sear for about 1–2 minutes per side until browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  5. Cook the shrimp: Using the same pan, add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the steak.
  6. Stir-fry the vegetables and aromatics: Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, sliced red bell pepper, and snow peas (or broccoli florets) to the pan. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes over medium-high heat until the vegetables are just tender but still crisp.
  7. Combine noodles and sauce: Add the cooked noodles to the pan along with the prepared sauce. Toss everything thoroughly to ensure the noodles and veggies are evenly coated with the flavorful sauce.
  8. Return steak and shrimp to pan: Add the seared steak and cooked shrimp back into the skillet with the noodles and vegetables. Cook everything together for another 1–2 minutes until the proteins are heated through.
  9. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds over the top before serving for added freshness and crunch.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Swap vegetables based on availability—carrots, mushrooms, or baby spinach work wonderfully as alternatives.
  • You can substitute spaghetti noodles with rice noodles or udon if preferred.
  • Marinate steak slightly longer for deeper flavor if time permits.
  • Ensure shrimp is peeled and deveined for the best texture and taste.
