Description

A delicious Steak Garlic Cheese Bread recipe featuring flavorful sautéed steak slices, garlicky butter, and a melty blend of mozzarella and provolone cheeses baked to golden perfection on toasted baguette halves. Perfect for a hearty appetizer or a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Cheese

  • 2 baguettes (or 4 smaller sub rolls)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese

Steak

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking steak)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Garlic Butter

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Optional

  • Crushed red pepper flakes for added heat

Instructions

  1. Cook the steak: In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the thinly sliced steak with 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon dried oregano. Add the steak slices to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is cooked through and nicely browned. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare the garlic butter: In a small bowl, thoroughly combine 4 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter, 4 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley. Mix until well incorporated to create a flavorful garlic butter spread.
  3. Toast the bread: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguettes or sub rolls in half lengthwise. Using a brush or spoon, coat the cut sides of the bread evenly with the prepared garlic butter mixture, ensuring full coverage.
  4. Add cheese and steak: Sprinkle an even layer of shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese (1 cup each) on each side of the bread. Distribute the cooked steak slices evenly on top of the cheese layers.
  5. Bake: Place the assembled bread halves on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely, is bubbly, and the bread has turned golden and toasted.
  6. Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into individual portions and serve warm. Optionally, sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes for added heat and flavor.

Notes

  • Use flank steak or sirloin for best flavor and tenderness.
  • Thinly slice the steak to ensure quick cooking and easy layering on the bread.
  • Feel free to use any combination of mozzarella and provolone cheese according to your preference.
  • Optionally add crushed red pepper flakes to the top before serving for a spicy kick.
  • For a crispier crust, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, watching carefully to avoid burning.
