Description

This Spinach White Pizza is a deliciously creamy and cheesy pizza featuring a blend of ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses topped with fresh spinach and fragrant garlic on a golden, crispy crust. Perfect as a vegetarian main course, it combines traditional Italian-American flavors with a fresh, healthy twist for a satisfying homemade meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough and Base

  • 1 ball (about 1 lb) pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • cornmeal or flour for dusting

Cheeses

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Toppings and Seasoning

  • 1 cup fresh spinach, roughly chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it is heating to ensure a crispy crust.
  2. Roll Out Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle or oval shape. Sprinkle cornmeal or flour on a pizza peel or baking sheet, then place the rolled dough on it for easy transfer.
  3. Add Olive Oil and Garlic: Brush the surface of the dough evenly with olive oil. Sprinkle the minced garlic over the dough, distributing it well for a fragrant base.
  4. Layer Cheeses: Place dollops of ricotta cheese across the dough, then evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan on top, creating a rich, cheesy layer.
  5. Add Spinach and Season: Scatter the fresh chopped spinach evenly over the cheese. Season the pizza with salt, black pepper, and if desired, a pinch of red pepper flakes for a slight kick.
  6. Bake: Transfer the pizza carefully to the preheated oven or pizza stone. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust turns golden and the cheese is bubbling and lightly browned.
  7. Slice and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice into 4 pieces and serve warm.

Notes

  • For more flavor, sauté the spinach briefly before spreading it on the pizza, or mix it into the ricotta cheese with some lemon zest.
  • This pizza can be made using flatbread or naan for a quicker, easier alternative to traditional dough.
  • Using a pizza stone helps to achieve a crispier crust but is optional.
  • Red pepper flakes add a nice touch of heat but are optional depending on your taste preference.
