Description

This Spaghetti-Stuffed Garlic Bread is a delicious and comforting twist on traditional garlic bread, combining savory spaghetti with melted cheese baked inside a crispy bread loaf. Perfect as a hearty main dish for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Toppings

  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

Spaghetti Filling

  • 6 oz spaghetti (about half a box)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Cook Spaghetti: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add ground beef or Italian sausage and cook until browned, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Combine Sauce and Spaghetti: Stir marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes into the meat mixture. Add cooked spaghetti and toss to evenly coat with the sauce.
  4. Prepare Bread: Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise. Hollow out the center of both halves, leaving about a 1/2-inch shell to hold the filling. Place the hollowed halves on a baking sheet.
  5. Stuff and Top Bread: Fill each bread half with the spaghetti mixture, pressing gently to pack it in. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Butter and Season Edges: Mix melted butter with garlic powder and brush the mixture over the edges of the bread for extra flavor and a golden crust.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden and crisp.
  8. Serve: Let cool slightly, slice into servings, and sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use any pasta sauce you prefer, such as homemade or store-bought marinara.
  • For protein variation, swap ground beef or sausage with cooked chicken or a vegetarian meat alternative.
  • This recipe is a great way to use up leftover cooked spaghetti and sauce.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference or omit for a milder flavor.
