Description

These Smashburger Bowls offer a delicious, low-carb twist on a classic burger by layering seasoned, crispy smashed beef patties over fresh chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cheddar cheese, diced red onions, and pickles. Drizzled with burger sauce or Thousand Island dressing and garnished with sesame seeds, these bowls provide a flavorful, satisfying meal perfect for a quick and easy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Patties

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Bowl Toppings

  • 4 cups chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped pickles

Sauce and Garnish

  • 1/4 cup burger sauce or Thousand Island dressing
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Skillet: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until hot and ready for cooking the patties.
  2. Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to incorporate without overworking the meat.
  3. Form and Smash Patties: Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a loose ball. Place each ball onto the hot skillet and immediately press down firmly with a spatula to smash into thin patties. Cook the patties for 2 to 3 minutes per side until they develop crispy edges and are cooked through.
  4. Prepare the Bowl Base: In four serving bowls, evenly layer the chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce, halved cherry tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, diced red onion, and chopped pickles.
  5. Assemble the Smashburger Bowls: Place one or two smashed patties (either whole or chopped) on top of the prepared vegetable and cheese layers in each bowl.
  6. Add Sauce and Garnish: Drizzle each bowl with burger sauce or Thousand Island dressing. Add a small amount of ketchup if desired, and finish by sprinkling sesame seeds on top for garnish.

Notes

  • Customize your bowls by adding crispy bacon, creamy avocado slices, or spicy jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or plant-based patties instead of beef.
  • Serve these bowls with a side of fries or roasted potatoes to make it a complete meal.
