Ingredients
Scale
Fries
- 1 bag (26 ounces) frozen French fries
Sloppy Joe Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Bake the Fries: Preheat your oven and bake the frozen French fries according to the package instructions until they are golden and crispy.
- Cook the Ground Beef: While the fries bake, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion, cooking for about 6 to 8 minutes until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Add Garlic and Sauce Ingredients: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Then add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the Mixture: Lower the heat and simmer the sloppy joe mixture for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- Assemble the Fries: Once the fries are cooked, spread them evenly on a large serving platter or a baking sheet. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the fries.
- Add Cheese and Melt: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and return the assembled fries to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- For extra indulgence, add a drizzle of sour cream or ranch dressing on top.
