Description

Indulge in these decadent rich chocolate cookies with a luscious glossy ganache glaze. Perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings and impressing guests with their elegant appearance.

Ingredients

Scale

For the cookies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the ganache glaze:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for shine)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Mix the dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes.
  7. Make ganache: Heat the heavy cream until simmering, then pour over the chopped chocolate. Add butter and vanilla, whisk until smooth.
  8. Glaze cookies: Once cookies are cooled, spoon or drizzle the ganache over the tops. Let set before serving.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of instant espresso powder to the cookie dough.
  • These cookies freeze well (unglazed or glazed).
  • You can customize by topping with sea salt, nuts, or edible gold.
