Ingredients
Scale
Sauce
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- ½ cup salsa
- 1 (1-oz) package taco seasoning, divided
Ground Beef
- ½ lb lean ground beef
- 6 Tbsp water
Dough & Toppings
- 2 (11-oz) cans French bread dough
- 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
- ¼ cup corn kernels
- ¼ cup black beans, drained and rinsed
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400ºF and lightly grease a round pizza pan or a pizza stone to prepare for baking.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, salsa, and half of the taco seasoning packet. Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes to meld the flavors, then remove from heat.
- Cook Ground Beef: Brown the ground beef in a small skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Add the remaining half of the taco seasoning and water to the beef, simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors, then remove from heat.
- Slice the Dough: Place one loaf of cooled refrigerated French bread dough on a cutting board. Cut the loaf in half lengthwise. Then slice each half crosswise into 16 slices, giving you 32 slices per loaf. Repeat this process with the second loaf to yield a total of 64 slices.
- Assemble Pizza: Arrange all the dough slices evenly on the prepared pizza pan or stone. Layer on the prepared taco sauce, followed by the shredded Mexican cheese blend, cooked taco meat, corn kernels, and black beans.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 14–16 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through and the crust turns a golden brown color. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Using French bread dough gives a soft, pull-apart texture perfect for sharing.
- Drain and rinse black beans to reduce sodium and improve flavor.
- Feel free to customize toppings with jalapeños, olives, or diced tomatoes for extra flavor.
- Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before pulling apart to avoid burns from hot cheese and toppings.
- Leftover pizza can be reheated in the oven to maintain crust crispness.
