Scale
Liquids & Milks
- 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (15-ounce) can cream of coconut
- 1 (13.5-ounce) can coconut milk
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups white or spiced rum (to taste)
Flavorings & Spices
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional
- 2 ounces melted dark chocolate (for extra richness)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a blender, add the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, cream of coconut, coconut milk, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy.
- Add Chocolate (Optional): If using melted dark chocolate, pour it into the blender at this stage and blend again until the chocolate is fully incorporated into the mixture.
- Incorporate Rum: Pour in the white or spiced rum to taste and blend briefly just to combine the ingredients evenly.
- Chill: Transfer the blended coquito mixture into glass bottles or jars. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the drink to chill thoroughly.
- Serve: Before serving, shake the bottle well to mix any settled ingredients. Pour into small glasses and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or shaved chocolate if desired. Serve cold.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of rum according to your preference or omit it for a non-alcoholic version.
- Coquito thickens as it chills; if it becomes too thick, add a splash of milk or rum to achieve desired consistency before serving.
- Store refrigerated and consume within 1 week for best freshness.
