Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Pizza Rollups featuring crescent or pizza dough filled with mozzarella, pepperoni, and Italian seasoning. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or lunchbox treat, these golden, bubbly rollups are baked to perfection and can be customized with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent dough or pizza dough sheet

Filling and Toppings

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni or chopped regular pepperoni
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • melted butter for brushing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Unroll the crescent dough or pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. If using crescent dough, press all the seams together firmly to form a solid sheet without gaps.
  3. Add Sauce and Toppings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about a 1/2 inch border all around to prevent overflow. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese uniformly over the sauce, then scatter the mini or chopped pepperoni. Add Italian seasoning and garlic powder for added flavor.
  4. Roll the Dough: Starting from the shorter side of the dough sheet, carefully roll it up tightly, forming a log. This helps the filling stay inside during baking and ensures even slices.
  5. Slice into Rollups: Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 8 even pieces. Place each piece cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart to allow expansion while baking.
  6. Optional Finishing Touches: Brush the tops of each rollup with melted butter, and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top for added richness and golden color.
  7. Bake: Bake the rollups in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown, puffed, and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool briefly. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping, perfect for parties, snacks, or lunchboxes.
