Ingredients
Scale
Pastry and Filling
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup pistachio cream (pistachio spread or paste)
- 1/4 cup chopped roasted pistachios
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
For Egg Wash and Garnish
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 6-cup muffin tin or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Roll out Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Gently roll it to form a 10×10-inch square, ensuring it is evenly flattened for uniform baking.
- Add Filling: Spread the pistachio cream evenly over the entire surface of the pastry. Sprinkle the chopped roasted pistachios evenly on top, followed by a light dusting of granulated sugar to add texture and sweetness.
- Form Muffins: Cut the pastry into 6 equal strips. Roll each strip tightly into a spiral, similar to a cinnamon roll, creating the classic croissant muffin shape. Place each spiral carefully into the prepared muffin cups.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each pastry spiral with the beaten egg. This helps achieve a shiny, golden crust during baking.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes or until the muffins puff up and turn a gorgeous golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the muffins to cool slightly in the pan before removing. Optionally, dust them with powdered sugar for an elegant finish before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm for the best texture and flakiness.
- For extra indulgence, fill the muffin centers with additional pistachio cream after baking.
- You can use either store-bought or homemade pistachio cream based on availability and preference.
