Description

These Pistachio Croissant Muffins combine flaky puff pastry with a rich pistachio cream filling and crunchy chopped pistachios for a delightful breakfast or dessert treat. Easy to prepare and baked to golden perfection, they offer a French-inspired twist on classic croissants with the convenience of muffin shapes.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry and Filling

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup pistachio cream (pistachio spread or paste)
  • 1/4 cup chopped roasted pistachios
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

For Egg Wash and Garnish

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 6-cup muffin tin or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Roll out Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Gently roll it to form a 10×10-inch square, ensuring it is evenly flattened for uniform baking.
  3. Add Filling: Spread the pistachio cream evenly over the entire surface of the pastry. Sprinkle the chopped roasted pistachios evenly on top, followed by a light dusting of granulated sugar to add texture and sweetness.
  4. Form Muffins: Cut the pastry into 6 equal strips. Roll each strip tightly into a spiral, similar to a cinnamon roll, creating the classic croissant muffin shape. Place each spiral carefully into the prepared muffin cups.
  5. Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each pastry spiral with the beaten egg. This helps achieve a shiny, golden crust during baking.
  6. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes or until the muffins puff up and turn a gorgeous golden brown.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the muffins to cool slightly in the pan before removing. Optionally, dust them with powdered sugar for an elegant finish before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm for the best texture and flakiness.
  • For extra indulgence, fill the muffin centers with additional pistachio cream after baking.
  • You can use either store-bought or homemade pistachio cream based on availability and preference.
