Description

These P.F. Chang’s Lettuce Wraps are a flavorful and healthy appetizer made with ground chicken sautéed with aromatic garlic, ginger, and a savory soy-based sauce. Served in crisp romaine lettuce leaves, they provide a delightful combination of textures and tastes perfect for a light meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Filling

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

For Serving

  • Romaine lettuce leaves, for wrapping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the onion: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add garlic and ginger: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned throughout, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks to ensure even browning.
  4. Mix in the sauces: Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and sesame oil. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, stirring regularly to fully coat the chicken and allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Add fresh herbs: Remove the skillet from heat and gently fold in the chopped green onions and cilantro to add a fresh, vibrant flavor.
  6. Assemble wraps and serve: Spoon the warm chicken mixture into individual romaine lettuce leaves. Wrap the lettuce around the filling and serve immediately for the best texture and taste.

Notes

  • For more heat, increase the amount of chili paste or add a dash of hot sauce.
  • Substitute ground chicken with ground turkey or pork if desired.
  • To keep wraps gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Serve with extra fresh herbs or shredded carrots for added crunch and flavor.
  • These wraps are best enjoyed fresh to maintain the crispness of the lettuce.
