Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Filling
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon chili paste
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
For Serving
- Romaine lettuce leaves, for wrapping
Instructions
- Prepare the onion: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add garlic and ginger: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Cook the chicken: Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned throughout, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks to ensure even browning.
- Mix in the sauces: Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and sesame oil. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, stirring regularly to fully coat the chicken and allow the flavors to meld.
- Add fresh herbs: Remove the skillet from heat and gently fold in the chopped green onions and cilantro to add a fresh, vibrant flavor.
- Assemble wraps and serve: Spoon the warm chicken mixture into individual romaine lettuce leaves. Wrap the lettuce around the filling and serve immediately for the best texture and taste.
Notes
- For more heat, increase the amount of chili paste or add a dash of hot sauce.
- Substitute ground chicken with ground turkey or pork if desired.
- To keep wraps gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Serve with extra fresh herbs or shredded carrots for added crunch and flavor.
- These wraps are best enjoyed fresh to maintain the crispness of the lettuce.
