These Monster Rice Krispie Treats are a fun and festive no-bake dessert perfect for Halloween or any fun occasion. Made with classic Rice Krispies cereal, melted marshmallows, creamy peanut butter, and a mix of colorful mini M&M’s, crushed pretzels, and mini chocolate chips, these treats are crunchy, chewy, and irresistibly delicious. Decorated with candy eyeballs and optional food coloring, they add a playful twist to the traditional rice crispy treat and are a hit with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter

Mix-ins and Toppings

  • ½ cup mini M&M’s
  • ½ cup crushed pretzels
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • Candy eyeballs (optional for decoration)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13-inch pan with butter or nonstick spray to ensure the treats don’t stick after setting.
  2. Melt Butter and Peanut Butter: In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt the unsalted butter along with the creamy peanut butter, stirring frequently to combine evenly.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Add the mini marshmallows to the pot and stir constantly until they are fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy. At this point, if using food coloring, stir it in thoroughly to evenly distribute the color.
  4. Combine with Cereal: Remove the pot from heat and quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring gently but thoroughly until the cereal is evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Add Mix-ins: Gently fold in crushed pretzels, mini M&M’s, and mini chocolate chips, reserving a small amount of these mix-ins to sprinkle on top for decoration.
  6. Press into Pan: Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, press the sticky mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Decorate and Set: While the mixture is still warm, sprinkle the reserved mix-ins and candy eyeballs over the top. Let the treats cool completely at room temperature until set.
  8. Serve: Once cooled and firm, slice into squares and serve your fun and festive Monster Rice Krispie Treats.

Notes

  • To prevent sticking, spray your hands or spatula with nonstick cooking spray before pressing the mixture into the pan.
  • You can easily customize these treats with different types of candy, colored sprinkles, or themed toppings to match holidays or celebrations.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.
