Cookies:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare dough: Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream together butter and brown sugar. Add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk dry ingredients. Combine wet and dry ingredients.
- Bake the cookies: Drop dough onto baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes until golden. Cool on rack.
- Make the icing: Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and salt until smooth.
- Ice the cookies: Drizzle or spread icing over cooled cookies. Allow to set before serving.
Notes
- For a stronger maple flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon maple extract to both the cookie dough and icing.
