Latte
- 1 cup warm water
- Ice, as needed
- Milk of choice (e.g., almond milk) – about 1 cup
Instructions
- Prepare Matcha Paste: In a measuring cup or bowl, add 2 teaspoons of matcha powder. Pour in 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot water and whisk vigorously until the matcha powder fully dissolves, forming a smooth paste with no lumps.
- Make Matcha Latte: Pour in the remaining 1 cup of warm water into the matcha paste and stir to combine well. Chill this matcha mixture in the refrigerator or freezer for about 15 minutes until cold.
- Assemble the Latte: Fill two glasses with ice cubes. Add your preferred milk (such as almond milk) to each glass. Pour the chilled matcha mixture over the milk and ice. Stir thoroughly to blend the flavors before serving.
Notes
- Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small regular whisk for best matcha paste results.
- Adjust milk quantity based on your preference for creaminess and strength.
- You can sweeten the latte with honey, sugar, or a sweetener of choice if desired.
- For a stronger matcha flavor, use higher quality ceremonial grade matcha powder.
