Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Sausage Patties
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), chopped parsley, dried sage, dried thyme, and maple syrup if desired. Use clean hands or a spatula to mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the meat.
- Form Patties: Divide the seasoned chicken mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a small patty approximately 1/2 inch thick to ensure even cooking.
- Heat Skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Allow it to heat up until shimmering, which helps prevent sticking and promotes browning.
- Cook Patties: Add the patties to the skillet, cooking each side for 4–5 minutes. Flip carefully to brown both sides evenly. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the cooked patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes. This helps retain juiciness before serving them warm as a hearty breakfast option or anytime snack.
Notes
- These sausage patties freeze well. Shape and freeze raw patties between parchment paper layers in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
- Perfect addition to breakfast sandwiches or meal prepping a protein-rich snack.
- You can omit the maple syrup for a less sweet sausage if preferred.
- Adjust crushed red pepper flakes according to your heat preference or omit for no spice.
