Description

These Homemade Dill Pickle Gummy Worms offer a fun and tangy twist on traditional gummy candies. Made with real dill pickle juice and gelatin, they provide a unique savory snack that’s easy to prepare and perfect for pickle lovers looking for a creative treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Pickle Gummy Mixture

  • 1 cup dill pickle juice (strained, no solids)
  • 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional, for slight sweetness)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional for extra pickle flavor)
  • Food coloring (green, optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the Gelatin: In a small saucepan, pour the dill pickle juice and evenly sprinkle the gelatin powder over the surface. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to bloom and absorb the liquid.
  2. Dissolve the Gelatin: Place the saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously without letting the mixture boil until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the liquid is smooth.
  3. Add Flavorings: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the honey or agave syrup, apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder if using, to enhance the pickle flavor and add slight sweetness.
  4. Color the Mixture: If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring to give the gummies a classic pickle worm appearance, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Pour into Molds: Pour the prepared mixture carefully into gummy worm molds. Alternatively, pour into a shallow pan to cut into strips after setting.
  6. Chill and Firm Up: Place the molds or pan in the refrigerator and let chill for at least 2 hours until the gummies are firm to the touch.
  7. Unmold or Cut: Once set, carefully remove the gummy worms from molds or cut your sheet of jelly into worm-shaped strips.
  8. Store Properly: Keep the gummy worms in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Consume within one week for best freshness.

Notes

  • Using strained pickle juice without solids ensures a smooth gelatin texture.
  • The optional honey or agave adds a subtle sweetness to balance tartness.
  • Garlic powder is optional but enhances the savory pickle flavor.
  • Food coloring is purely decorative and can be omitted.
  • Ensure not to boil the gelatin mixture as high heat can degrade gelatin’s setting properties.
  • Store gummies refrigerated to maintain firmness and freshness.
