For the Casserole:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 4 cups cooked green beans (fresh or frozen)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
For Topping:
- 1 bag (28 oz) frozen tater tots
- ½ cup crispy fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sauté onions and garlic: In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Mix ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together soup, sour cream, milk, pepper, and onion powder. Add green beans, onions, and garlic, and 1 cup of cheese.
- Assemble and bake: Spread mixture in baking dish, top with tater tots, and bake for 35–40 minutes. Add remaining cheese and fried onions, bake for 5 more minutes.
- Serve: Let cool slightly before serving.
