Description

This German Chocolate Fudge recipe is a rich, creamy, and indulgent no-bake dessert combining smooth chocolate, toasted coconut, and crunchy pecans for the perfect sweet treat. Easy to prepare, it’s an ideal festive or anytime dessert that sets beautifully in the fridge to delight your taste buds with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Layer

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Chocolate Layer: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir constantly until the mixture is melted and smooth, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour this fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  3. Prepare the Topping: In a separate saucepan, mix evaporated milk, brown sugar, and egg yolks over medium heat. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add Nuts and Coconut: Remove the topping from heat and quickly stir in shredded coconut and chopped pecans. Let the topping cool slightly so it’s easier to spread.
  5. Assemble and Chill: Spread the coconut-pecan topping evenly over the chocolate layer. Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2–3 hours until fully set.
  6. Serve: Once set, cut into 16 squares and serve chilled for the best texture and flavor experience.

Notes

  • Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For an extra rich chocolate flavor, substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate chips.
  • To enhance texture and flavor, toast the pecans and shredded coconut lightly before mixing them into the topping.
