Garlic Turmeric Rice:

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups water or chicken broth

Instructions
- Heat olive oil: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
- Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Toast rice: Stir in the rice and toast for 1–2 minutes to coat in the garlic and oil.
- Add spices: Add turmeric, cumin, black pepper, and salt, stirring to combine.
- Cook rice: Pour in water or broth, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes until tender.
- Rest and fluff: Remove from heat, let sit covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
- Finish and garnish: Stir in butter if desired, and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use chicken or vegetable broth instead of water.
- You can also stir in peas or chopped carrots during the last 5 minutes of cooking for a complete side dish.
