Ingredients
Scale
Steak Bites
- 2 strip steaks
- Montreal Steak Seasoning, to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
Smashed Potatoes
- 24 oz baby potatoes
- Olive oil (for cooking)
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder, to taste
- Shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
- 3 green onions, chopped (for topping)
Instructions
- Cook Potatoes: Boil baby potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain well before proceeding.
- Sear and Smash Potatoes: Heat a griddle over medium heat and drizzle olive oil. Add the cooked baby potatoes, then smash each potato gently with a spatula to flatten them partially. Drizzle additional olive oil over the smashed potatoes and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the potatoes develop a crispy golden crust, flipping occasionally to crisp both sides, about 8–10 minutes.
- Prepare Steak Bites: While potatoes cook, cut the strip steaks into bite-sized cubes. Season generously with Montreal Steak Seasoning.
- Cook Steak Bites: On the same griddle, push the potatoes to one side and add the seasoned steak cubes. Cook over medium heat until desired doneness is reached, about 3–5 minutes, turning occasionally to sear all sides.
- Create Garlic Butter Sauce: Turn off the heat. Add butter and minced garlic beside the steak, stirring continuously until the butter melts and the garlic is fragrant, coating the steak bites in garlic butter sauce.
- Assemble and Serve: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions over the crispy smashed potatoes. Serve immediately alongside the garlic butter steak bites for a hot and flavorful meal.
Notes
- Use baby potatoes of similar size for even cooking.
- Adjust seasoning quantities according to your taste preference.
- Ensure the griddle is properly heated before adding potatoes and steak for a crispy sear.
- You can substitute cheddar cheese with your favorite melting cheese.
- For a healthier option, use less butter or substitute with olive oil in the garlic butter sauce.
