Description

This Garlic Butter Steak Bites and Cheesy Smashed Potatoes recipe offers a delightful combination of tender, garlicky steak cubes and crispy smashed potatoes topped with melted cheddar cheese and fresh herbs. It’s a comforting, flavorful dish perfect for a hearty dinner that satisfies your cravings with rich buttery flavors and a cheesy twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into cubes
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Cheesy Smashed Potatoes

  • 1 lb baby potatoes
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Smashed Potatoes: Boil the baby potatoes in salted water until they are tender and easily pierced with a fork. Drain them well and let them cool slightly. Preheat a griddle to medium-high heat.
  2. Smash and Cook the Potatoes: Gently smash each boiled potato to flatten slightly without breaking apart. Drizzle the smashed potatoes with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper. Place them on the hot griddle and cook until the potatoes are crispy and golden on the outside.
  3. Add Cheddar Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the crispy smashed potatoes on the griddle. Continue cooking until the cheese melts and becomes gooey, then remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped chives.
  4. Prepare the Garlic Butter for Steak: In a pan or skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about one minute or until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Cook the Steak Bites: Add the cubed sirloin steak to the pan with garlic butter. Season with salt and pepper. Cook the steak bites until they are browned on all sides and cooked to your preferred doneness.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the steak bites from heat, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, and serve alongside the cheesy smashed potatoes for a complete meal.

Notes

  • To ensure even cooking of steak bites, cut the sirloin into uniform cubes.
  • Do not over-smash the potatoes to prevent them from falling apart.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with mozzarella or your preferred melting cheese.
  • Adjust garlic quantity according to your taste preference.
  • For extra crispiness on potatoes, you can finish them under a broiler for 1-2 minutes watching carefully.
