Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Seasoning
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Cooking Fats and Flavorings
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Base
- 2 cups cooked white rice (or jasmine rice for extra flavor)
Garnish
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper, then cook them for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes if using, and add the lemon juice, mixing well to combine the flavors.
- Assemble the Rice Stack: Divide the cooked rice into four equal portions. Using a small bowl or round mold, press each portion firmly into the bottom to form compact rice stacks. Carefully invert the mold and remove it to place the rice stacks on serving plates.
- Add the Shrimp: Top each rice stack with the cooked shrimp and spoon the garlic butter sauce evenly over the shrimp for a rich flavor.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the shrimp and rice stacks. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side to add a fresh burst of citrus flavor.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use jasmine rice instead of regular white rice.
- Adjust crushed red pepper flakes to taste or omit for a milder dish.
- Make sure not to burn the garlic when making the sauce to avoid bitterness.
- This dish can be served with a side of steamed vegetables or a crisp salad to round out the meal.
- Use a mold or small bowl to create neat rice stacks for an elegant presentation.
