For the beef balls:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup finely diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
- 1 large egg
For coating and frying:
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten (for dredging)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cheddar cheese, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, breadcrumbs, and 1 egg. Mix well.
- Form the mixture into balls and chill in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes.
- Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
- Roll each meatball in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the beef balls in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauces.
Notes
- You can prep these ahead and freeze them raw or cooked.
- For extra cheesy centers, stuff each ball with a small cube of mozzarella before frying.
- Bake instead of fry at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes for a lighter version.
