Description

These French Dip Biscuits are a delightful twist on the classic French dip sandwich, featuring tender roast beef, gooey cheese, and savory onions nestled inside flaky biscuit cups. Perfect for a party appetizer or a cozy family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Biscuit Cups:

  • 1 can refrigerated flaky biscuits (8 count)

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 pound deli roast beef, sliced thin
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can beef consommé or beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a muffin tin.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté the onions until soft and caramelized, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Add garlic, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce; cook for another minute. Remove from heat.
  4. Split each biscuit in half horizontally and press each piece into the bottom and up the sides of the muffin cups.
  5. Layer each with a slice of roast beef, a spoonful of the onion mixture, and a sprinkle of cheese.
  6. Top with the other biscuit half, pressing gently to seal the edges.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. While baking, heat the beef consommé or broth in a small saucepan with black pepper until warm.
  9. Serve biscuits hot with warm au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use leftover roast beef instead of deli slices.
  • Swap in Swiss cheese for a different flavor.
  • These are best served warm but can be reheated in the oven.
