Description

These Flourless Sweet Potato Brownies are a deliciously rich and fudgy treat made without flour, relying on mashed sweet potatoes and almond butter for moisture and texture. Naturally sweetened with maple syrup and studded with dark chocolate chips, these brownies offer a healthier alternative that is gluten-free and packed with nutrients. Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth while keeping things wholesome.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup mashed cooked sweet potato (about 1 large sweet potato)
  • 1/2 cup almond butter (or peanut butter)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, almond butter, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt. Stir until the batter is smooth and well blended.
  3. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold the dark chocolate chips into the batter to distribute them evenly without breaking them.
  4. Transfer Batter to Pan: Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  5. Bake: Bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool and Slice: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into 9 squares to ensure they hold together well.

Notes

  • You can substitute peanut butter for almond butter depending on your preference.
  • If you prefer a sweeter brownie, increase maple syrup by a tablespoon.
  • These brownies are best served at room temperature or chilled.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • You can also freeze the brownies for up to 2 months; thaw before serving.
