These Easy Cheesy Spinach Pinwheels are a delightful appetizer or snack that’s perfect for any occasion. A flavorful spinach and cheese filling wrapped in puff pastry, baked until golden and crispy.
Ingredients
Puff Pastry:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Spinach Filling:
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
5 ounces fresh spinach, chopped
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg, beaten for egg wash
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Sauté Spinach: In a skillet, sauté garlic in olive oil until fragrant. Add spinach, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, cook until wilted.
- Prepare Filling: Transfer spinach mixture to a bowl to cool. Mix in cream cheese, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
- Roll Out Pastry: Roll puff pastry into a 10×12-inch rectangle.
- Fill & Roll: Spread spinach-cheese mixture over pastry, leaving a border. Roll pastry into a log.
- Slice & Bake: Cut log into rounds, place on baking sheet, brush with egg wash. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden.
- Serve: Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- You can prepare the pinwheels ahead, freeze them unbaked, and bake straight from the freezer—just add 3–5 minutes to the baking time.
- Feta cheese can be substituted for Parmesan for a tangier flavor.
