- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Optional Toppings
- Fresh berries

Instructions
- Combine oats and milk: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the oats, milk, cinnamon, and salt. Stir occasionally as the mixture heats.
- Cook until thickened: Continue cooking for about 5–7 minutes until the oatmeal starts to thicken.
- Whisk the egg: In a small bowl, whisk the egg until smooth.
- Temper the egg: Slowly pour a few spoonfuls of the hot oatmeal mixture into the bowl with the whisked egg while continuously whisking to temper it and prevent scrambling.
- Incorporate tempered egg: Gradually stir the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the oatmeal.
- Cook until creamy: Cook the oatmeal, stirring constantly for an additional 2–3 minutes until it becomes thick and creamy.
- Finish and serve: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and maple syrup or honey. Serve warm topped with your favorite fresh berries, banana slices, chopped nuts, or a drizzle of nut butter.
