Potato Layer:

  • 1 1/2 pounds russet potatoes (peeled and diced)

Cheesesteak Layer:

  • 1 pound ground beef or thinly sliced beef steak
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Spray Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Layer Potatoes: Layer diced potatoes at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. Cook Beef: Brown ground beef or steak in a skillet. Add bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder.
  4. Layer Ingredients: Place cooked beef mixture over the potatoes. Pour beef broth over the top.
  5. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until potatoes are tender.
  6. Add Cheese: Sprinkle provolone and cheddar cheese over the top 15 minutes before serving. Melt the cheese.
  7. Serve: Stir gently before serving if desired.
