Potato Layer:
- 1 1/2 pounds russet potatoes (peeled and diced)
Cheesesteak Layer:
- 1 pound ground beef or thinly sliced beef steak
- 1 green bell pepper (diced)
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Spray Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
- Layer Potatoes: Layer diced potatoes at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Cook Beef: Brown ground beef or steak in a skillet. Add bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder.
- Layer Ingredients: Place cooked beef mixture over the potatoes. Pour beef broth over the top.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours until potatoes are tender.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle provolone and cheddar cheese over the top 15 minutes before serving. Melt the cheese.
- Serve: Stir gently before serving if desired.

- Use frozen diced potatoes to save time.
- Enhance with mushrooms or red bell pepper.
