Description

Crab Crunchies are a delightful appetizer featuring crispy wonton wrappers filled with a savory mixture of lump crab meat, cream cheese, and seasonings. These Asian-inspired treats are fried to golden perfection, creating a crunchy exterior with a creamy, flavorful interior.

Ingredients

Scale

Crab Filling:

  • 8 ounces lump crab meat (drained and picked over for shells)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Other:

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • Oil for frying
  • Optional: sweet chili sauce or soy dipping sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, green onion, garlic powder, soy sauce, black pepper, and mozzarella cheese. Fold in the crab meat gently until fully incorporated.
  2. Assemble the Crab Crunchies: Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold into triangles or bring all four corners together to seal.
  3. Fry the Crab Crunchies: Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry crab crunchies in batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve: Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • You can bake these at 400°F for 12–15 minutes or air fry at 375°F for 8–10 minutes for a lighter version.
  • Imitation crab can be used as a budget-friendly alternative.
  • Make sure the wonton wrappers are sealed tightly to avoid leakage during frying.
