Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan, lining the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Combine wet and dry: Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, then fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Bake: Pour batter into the pan and bake for 60–70 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the cake cool in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
