Description
A delicious and easy no-bake treat perfect for chocolate lovers, combining the light, creamy texture of Cool Whip with rich semi-sweet and milk chocolate for a fluffy, freezer candy that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Mixture
- 1 bag (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother texture)
Cool Whip Mixture
- 1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip, thawed
Optional Coating
- Cocoa powder or melted chocolate for coating (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal of the candy once set.
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each interval until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
- Add Flavor: Stir vanilla extract and salt into the melted chocolate, mixing thoroughly to combine all flavors evenly.
- Cool the Chocolate: Allow the melted chocolate mixture to cool for about 5 minutes until it’s no longer hot but still pourable, to avoid melting the Cool Whip when combined.
- Combine with Cool Whip: In a large mixing bowl, gently fold the cooled chocolate mixture into the thawed Cool Whip until the mixture is fully combined, smooth, and fluffy.
- Freeze the Mixture: Pour the chocolate-Cool Whip mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a spatula. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until the candy is completely firm.
- Cut and Coat: Once frozen, lift the candy out of the pan using the parchment overhang and cut into small squares. Optionally, dust the squares with cocoa powder or dip them in melted chocolate for an extra layer of flavor and texture.
- Storage: Keep the candy refrigerated or frozen until ready to serve to prevent melting.
Notes
- Use dark chocolate chips for a richer chocolate flavor or substitute with white chocolate chips for a sweeter twist.
- These treats melt quickly at room temperature, so it is best to keep them chilled until serving.
- Adding coconut oil or vegetable shortening can help achieve a smoother texture if desired.
- Ensure the chocolate is cooled sufficiently before folding in the Cool Whip to maintain fluffiness.
