Delicious and easy-to-make Chocolate Covered Pretzels that combine salty and sweet flavors, perfect for a quick treat or sharing with friends. Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 5 cups pretzel minis
- 12 oz milk, semisweet, or dark chocolate bars, finely chopped (divided)
- Optional: white chocolate for drizzling
- Optional toppings: sprinkles, toffee bits, or crushed nuts
Instructions
- Prepare double boiler: Fill a small saucepan with 1-2 inches of water and set a medium-sized heatproof bowl on top ensuring it doesn’t touch the water. Alternatively, use a double boiler if you have one.
- Add chocolate to bowl: Remove the bowl from the saucepan and add the finely chopped chocolate, reserving approximately 2 tablespoons to stir in later.
- Heat water to simmer: Bring the water in the saucepan to a simmer over medium heat. Once simmering, place the bowl with chocolate over the saucepan.
- Melt chocolate: Stir the chocolate constantly until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat and add the reserved chocolate pieces, stirring until completely melted to prevent streaks and ensure a glossy finish.
- Dip pretzels: Using a fork or dipping tool, fully coat the pretzel minis in the melted chocolate, then place them on a cooling rack or a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Make sure pretzels are spaced apart so they do not touch.
- Optional decoration: While the chocolate is still wet, drizzle with melted white chocolate or sprinkle with your choice of sprinkles, toffee bits, or crushed nuts to add extra flavor and texture.
- Set the chocolate: Allow the pretzels to sit at room temperature until the chocolate hardens completely. To speed up this process, place them in the refrigerator until set and firm.
Notes
- Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor and smooth melting.
- Make sure the bowl doesn’t touch the simmering water to avoid burning the chocolate.
- To avoid streaky chocolate, stir in some reserved chocolate pieces at the end of melting.
- Store chocolate covered pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
- Feel free to customize toppings according to preference, including sea salt for a sweet-salty twist.
