Description

These Chicken Alfredo Air Fryer Calzones are a delicious twist on classic stuffed pizza pockets, combining tender shredded chicken in a creamy Alfredo sauce with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Perfectly cooked in the air fryer for a golden, crispy crust, these calzones are an easy and satisfying main course that’s ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 cup cooked chicken (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup Alfredo sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Dough & Assembly

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Stir until the mixture is well blended and uniform.
  2. Shape the Calzones: Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and cut into 4 equal rectangles. Spoon the chicken Alfredo filling onto one half of each rectangle, leaving a border around the edges to seal.
  3. Seal the Calzones: Fold the dough over the filling and firmly press the edges with a fork to seal each calzone, ensuring no filling escapes during cooking.
  4. Prepare for Air Frying: Brush the tops of the calzones with the beaten egg to promote browning. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes and lightly spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  5. Cook the Calzones: Place 1 to 2 calzones in the preheated air fryer basket depending on your air fryer size. Cook for 8–10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through if necessary to ensure even cooking. Repeat with remaining calzones.
  6. Serve: Allow the calzones to cool slightly, then garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm with extra Alfredo or marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for a quick and convenient prep.
  • Add spinach or cooked broccoli into the filling for extra vegetables.
  • Leftover calzones reheat well in the air fryer for a few minutes until crisp.
