- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to ensure it’s ready for baking the casserole evenly.
- Make Sauce Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
- Add Hot Dogs and Cheese: Stir in the sliced hot dogs and 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese into the sauce mixture. Mix everything evenly to coat the hot dogs with the creamy mixture.
- Assemble Casserole: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish, then pour the hot dog and sauce mixture into the dish. Spread it out evenly to form an even layer.
- Top with Tater Tots: Place the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the sauce mixture, covering the surface completely.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown on top.
- Add Extra Cheese: Remove the casserole from the oven, sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the tater tots, then return to the oven for another 5–7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Rest and Garnish: Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes after baking to set, then garnish with chopped green onions if desired before serving.
