Description

A rich and creamy baked shrimp and crab spinach dip combining tender seafood with melted cheeses and flavorful spices, perfect for parties or a comforting appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood

  • 4 oz cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 4 oz lump crab meat, drained and picked through

Vegetables

  • 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry

Dairy

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the dip.
  2. Mix dairy and spices: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper if using, salt, and black pepper to evenly distribute the flavors.
  3. Add seafood and spinach: Fold in the thawed and well-drained chopped spinach, followed by the chopped shrimp and crab meat. Mix gently to incorporate all ingredients without breaking up the seafood.
  4. Add cheeses: Gently mix in the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheeses until evenly combined for a cheesy texture.
  5. Prepare for baking: Transfer the mixture into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish or a small oven-safe skillet, spreading it evenly for consistent cooking.
  6. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the dip is hot, bubbly, and the top has a lightly golden crust.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm alongside toasted bread, crackers, or tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh spinach that has been sautéed and drained instead of frozen spinach.
  • For extra flavor, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a few dashes of hot sauce to the mixture.
  • This dip can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving to save time during your event.
