Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Dough & Topping
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Cook beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned and crumbly. Drain off any excess grease for a less oily filling.
- Season beef: Season the cooked beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in ketchup and mustard to add tang and flavor, then remove from heat.
- Mix in cheese: Allow the beef mixture to cool slightly before folding in the shredded cheddar cheese to prevent melting too early.
- Prepare dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pizza or crescent roll dough and cut it into 6 to 8 equal rectangles or squares for individual pockets.
- Fill pockets: Spoon a generous portion of the beef and cheese filling onto one half of each dough rectangle, leaving space around the edges to seal the pockets.
- Seal pockets: Fold the dough over the filling and firmly press the edges with a fork to seal them and prevent leakage during baking.
- Apply egg wash and toppings: Place the filled pockets on the baking sheet, brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes until the pockets are puffed up and golden brown.
- Serve: Let the cheeseburger pockets cool slightly before serving to avoid burns and allow flavors to meld.
Notes
- Add pickles or sautéed onions inside the pockets for extra flavor and texture.
- These pockets reheat well and are freezer-friendly—bake and freeze, then reheat in the oven or air fryer as needed.
