Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- ½ cup cooked chopped bacon
- 3 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp mustard
- 1 Tbsp hamburger seasoning
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
Batter
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup Bisquick
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400ºF (204ºC) and lightly spray a 9-inch pie plate with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the lean ground beef until it’s no longer pink. Drain any excess grease to keep the dish from becoming too oily.
- Add Seasonings: Stir in ketchup, mustard, hamburger seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce into the cooked beef. Mix well and allow it to simmer for 2 minutes, melding the flavors together.
- Assemble the Meat Layer: Spread the seasoned ground beef evenly across the bottom of the prepared pie plate. Sprinkle the crumbled cooked bacon over the beef, then top with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Prepare and Pour Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and Bisquick until smooth. Pour this batter evenly over the meat and cheese layer in the pie plate.
- Bake the Pie: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The pie is done when the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Add Final Cheese and Rest: Remove the pie from the oven and sprinkle with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese. Let the pie sit for 5 minutes to set before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease and keep the pie from becoming soggy.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of ketchup, mustard, or seasoning according to your taste preferences.
- Letting the pie rest after baking allows it to set for cleaner slices.
- You can substitute Bisquick with your favorite baking mix if desired.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- The pie can be reheated in the oven at 350ºF for 10-15 minutes for leftovers.
