Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in chopped pecans.
  4. Layer Batter: Spread the batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish.
  5. Add Topping: Mix brown sugar and extra granulated sugar, then sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Pour Water: Slowly pour hot water over the dish without stirring.
  7. Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and set. A caramel sauce will form underneath.
