Scale
Cookie Ingredients
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 2¾ cups Bisquick baking mix
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (6 oz)
- ½ cup nuts, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature while you prepare the dough.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and packed brown sugar until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract and egg until fully combined.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually stir in the Bisquick baking mix until the dough is well blended. Then fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts to distribute evenly.
- Form Cookies: Drop the cookie dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Slightly flatten each mound with the back of a spoon or your fingers for even baking.
- Bake: Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies turn golden brown around the edges.
- Cool: Remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely before enjoying.
Notes
- For softer cookies, slightly underbake by removing them at the 8-minute mark.
- Optional nuts add a nice crunch; walnuts or pecans work well.
- Use parchment paper on the cookie sheet for easier cleanup, though it’s not necessary since the recipe specifies ungreased pans.
- Ensure butter is softened for easier mixing; avoid melting.
- Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to 5 days.
