Description

Bang Bang Chicken Skewers are a flavorful and spicy grilled chicken dish featuring tender bite-sized chicken pieces coated in a creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet Bang Bang sauce. Perfect for summer grilling, these skewers are easy to prepare and versatile, making a great main course served hot or cold.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Skewers

  • 1½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 8–10 wooden or metal skewers

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare Skewers: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.
  2. Make Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, lime juice, and garlic powder until smooth. Set the sauce aside for later use.
  3. Season Chicken: In a large bowl, toss the bite-sized chicken pieces with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Thread Chicken: Evenly thread the seasoned chicken pieces onto the soaked wooden or metal skewers.
  5. Preheat Grill: Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat, ensuring it’s hot before placing the skewers.
  6. Grill Chicken: Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally to get a nice char. Grill until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and is cooked through.
  7. Apply Sauce: During the last few minutes of grilling, brush some Bang Bang sauce onto the chicken skewers for extra flavor and glaze.
  8. Serve: Remove the skewers from the grill. Drizzle or brush additional Bang Bang sauce onto the skewers before serving. Serve hot with extra sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • These skewers can also be used in lettuce wraps, served over rice bowls, or cold in meal prep containers.
  • For extra crispiness, broil the skewers for 1–2 minutes at the end of grilling.
  • The Bang Bang sauce doubles as a delicious dipping sauce for shrimp or vegetables.
  • Ensure to use gluten-free sweet chili sauce and mayonnaise to keep the recipe gluten-free.
